What is an Elevation Certificate?
An Elevation Certificate is a certified document used to determine your flood insurance premium. It illustrates the height of the lowest floor of a building compared to the Base Flood Elevation (BFE) in that specific location.
The BFE, which is provided by FEMA or the local municipality, is the computed elevation to which floodwater is anticipated to rise during a specified storm or flood event. The higher your lowest floor is above the BFE, the lower the risk of flooding, and the lower your flood insurance premium will be.
Who Needs an Elevation Certificate?
Existing homes that require flood insurance as well as all new construction, including substantial improvements to existing homes, will need an Elevation Certificate to help ensure you get the best flood insurance rate possible. There are exceptions, such as properties in Zone X and pre-FIRM structures. Your local insurance agent can provide more information on those scenarios.
What Is the Cost?
We can provide an Elevation Certificate for most single, existing residential structures for a fee of $200 in the following parishes: East Baton Rouge, Livingston, Ascension, Orleans, and most of Jefferson Parish. We service all of Southeast Louisiana from Lafayette to the Mississippi state line. Please call our office for a quote specific to your address.

Simply submit your request by calling our office or sending us an email using the contact form below. We will then schedule a time to come to your home.

Once you’ve scheduled an appointment, our team begins collecting the necessary information to complete the Elevation Certificate including Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) and the legal description of the property.
We gather pertinent site information
3. We Perform The Field Work
We will arrive at your home with state-of-the-art survey equipment and gather GPS data and other pertinent information to help our engineer determine the exact elevation of your home.
We verify, sign, seal and deliver the paperwork
4. We Complete The Paperwork
The collected field data will be brought back to our office and verified. Our engineer will then complete, sign and seal your Elevation Certificate and we will e-mail you with an electronic copy.

How long does it take?
The standard turnaround time to receive your Elevation Certificate is 3 days following the date of our field visit. We offer rush processing (next business day) for an additional $50.
How much does it cost?
Our fee starts at $200 for single, existing, residential structures. Additional structures, commercial buildings, properties outside of our first tier service area, and properties requiring multiple visits will have higher pricing. Please call or email us for details.
What payments are accepted?
We can accept all major credit cards. We will collect the payment information at the time that you schedule the appointment and will run the charge on the day of the appointment. Cancellations must be made prior to the day of the appointment. Once a charge has been processed, we do not offer refunds.
Do I need to be home?
You are not required to be present for the appointment. However, if you are not available to be onsite at the time of our field visit please be sure that we will have access to all exterior walls of the structure. We ask that you please leave any gates unlocked and secure any pets for the duration of our visit. Prior to the date of the appointment, we will provide you with a 2 hour window of when to expect us onsite.
Am I in a Flood Zone?
We've made finding out if your structure is in a flood zone easy. Simply click the words Flood Map at the top of this page and type in your address. You can also go directly to the FEMA Map Service Center via the Helpful Links section to pull the Flood Insurance Rate Map for your address. Or simply give us a call and we'll be glad to pull the information for you.
